Cabinet

Kevin made this lovely cabinet! Isn't it amazing? I love it! I had seen a picture of a similar one, showed it to him, and a few hours later it was done!

The only thing we had to buy was the hinges, which are really cheap at Lowe's. I think less than $3 for all of them. I had the knobs from the dresser I got for free on Craigslist a while back.

I painted it white and then used an Antiquing Glaze to make it look aged. It was my first time ever "Antiquing" anything. By the end of the cabinet, I had figured it out! haha.

What do you think? Pretty awesome!!

Vinyl Sign Upcycle

I am really excited about this amazing sign I made!! A few weeks ago, we stumbled upon these vinyl signs at the Dollar Tree. Usually they say really corny things when they are at the dollar store, but I actually liked this one "Bless This Home With Love & Laughter."

I knew exactly what I would put it on. I didn't want to stick it on the wall in case we ever move, I want to be able to take it with us. I had this old sign that said 'Kitchen' that was in our apartment. That means it has been sitting in my garage in a box for almost a year! I dug it out, painted it a grey blue (mixed a bunch of paints I had) and stuck the vinyl on. I didn't get the vinyl exactly center (it was hard to do this alone! Once it sticks, its stuck!) so I decided to add a butterfly stamp to the side with the extra space. I think it turned out great! And for $1, and recycling. Cant beat that!

Foam Pumpkin Plaque

I have really been wanting to make one of these! I have seen a few before and loved it! I just never was quite sure what to use for the pumpkin on the front.

Tonight I went to Michael's for one specific thing. Well, you know how that goes! My hands were full!! In my defence, I discovered a new to me clearance isle! But, nothing was marked with prices! Now that I know how cheap everything is, I'm pretty sure I need to go back tomorrow.

Anyway, I found this foam pumpkin for $0.49 cents! I knew that My amazing husband could make me a plaque with his router and a scrap piece of wood.

I painted the plaque and used some Elmer's glue to glue the pumpkin on.

As much as I love glitter, there is way to much glitter going on over on this shelf! I need to find a new home for these glitter pumpkins and replace them with some non-glitter pumpkins! This pumpkin plaque is most likely going to get a sister tomorrow! =)

P.S... how many times did I just say pumpkin?! lol

Little Pumpkins

Today was a very crafty day for us! Kevin is amazing at building things. I showed him a picture of this "dresser thing" and asked him if he could make it. It looks amazing! That post will be soon. We are in the process of painting it now!

I made these little baby pumpkins out of some scrap 2x4's, orange paint, a little green ribbon, and some glitter!

To add the glitter I coated the pumpkin in ModPodge, sprinkled the glitter, and spread around with the brush so they weren't over sparkly. They do appear over sparkly because of the flash. I kind of like them better before the glitter... so I might have to make some more.

See what I mean about them looking better with out the glitter? I think I will make four more and write 'Fall' on them.... =)

New Shower Curtain

The new and old shower curtain.

I had a love hate relationship with this old shower curtain. I love the pattern, but the curtain is 2 years old and plastic. If it was fabric, I probably would keep it forever. It was between $5 and $10 so to last me 2 years is pretty great.

The new shower curtain I'm not in love with yet. The bathroom is getting painted this weekend. Right now it is a maroon/redish color that I love but it doesn't match my purple bedroom. (The purple came after the red. We attempted maroon, brown and white stripes and it was crazy! I had to paint over it.) I have some left over gray that I am going to lighten with some left over white.

The gray fabric I used for this new shower curtain is twin size sheets! I got them on clearance at target for $4.48! Cant beat that price for some fabric! The white is also an old sheet scrap left over from my kitchen curtain.

This was a very exhausting project! I am NOT a fan of pinning, and it involves a lot of pinning.

First, I measured the gray fabric, cut it, and sewed the hem. Next, I decided how many stripes I wanted, how big they should be, and how far spaced out they should be. I decided on 4 inch stripes, 3 inches apart. I measured and made marks on the gray fabric for where the center of the white stripes should be pinned.

I cut 10 4 inch stripes. I pinned them all on the marked spots and all the way across the curtain. By the end of the curtain (which was actually the top), I was exhausted and my back hurt, (this is where I should have taken a break and drank a nice big glass of wine... but I didn't) and I got a little lazy with the pinning and it shows! Oh well, what can you do. I sewed all the stripes on. I measured and marked where the holes for the hangers should go, and cut them. Whew, I then went and got a nice big glass of wine!!

I am thinking I will like it more with the walls painted. If not, I'm thinking of adding a few purple stripes or fabric flowers. We will see.

Circle Scarf Upcycle

I have been wanting to make some of these amazing circle scarfs that I need on all these famous people lately! I decided instead of buying fabric, it would be smart and eco-friendly to use old clothes that I don't wear anymore!

Here is my circle scarf made from an old dress =) Please ignore my pictures, I am awful at taking "mirror shots."
I will update with more pictures of different scarves I make recycling old clothes!

Our Second Snow!

Well we got a LOT of snow this time! I think it is way to early! I did not want to turn the heat on in the house. I had to give in when my husband was convincing me that the pipes would freeze over night if I didn't turn it on!
Time to break out the sweaters & jackets for the little dogs.

These pictures were from the morning, then it snowed allll day long. We got 6-8 inches
